Ear Mix Solution
Years ago, Dr. Ron Karnaugh had a simple solution swimmers used to prevent ear infections.
We used to squirt some in each ear after each practice.
50% rubbing alcohol + 50% vinegar = 100% prevention?
Want to learn more about Dr. Karnaugh?
How about Olympian Ron Karnaugh?
Check out his connection to the New York Yankees here.

Dry-Land OYO
I'm going to throw a lot out here and hope y'all can do this on your own.
Y'all have wheels & jump ropes and have been using them, right?
During high school season, our crawl series went well in the gym. Unfortunately, the pool deck has gotten worse since we did our crawls there a couple of years ago.
We use the same Crawl Series as Carmel, Indiana:
Beyond our regular set of Planks, here are some variations (not so sure about last few):
Check your email for a Crunches checklist.
As with the planks, start out just a little on the conservative side and gradually build up.
Below are a few videos to help you learn proper technique.

Drag Suits
Company we order our high school drag suits through is Agon. If you want to get one or two, here's a link to their training suit page You'll find more options that you can imagine! Years ago, Leon went with black/yeller checker (looked like a taxi cab paint job) and Bobby went with skull/cross bones.

"Muscle Memory"
![]() |
| via Triathlon Training with Amy |
Article in Popular Science is here. Take a few minutes to read about what we commonly call "muscle memory"!
Memory in your neurons
Learning to ride a bike is an exercise in episodic memory: you can know how to ride a bike without being able to explain how you’re doing it. Biking is an unusual case because there seems to be a moment in which you finally understand it, but learning to do anything physical involves this kind of memory. It feels to us as if that memory is stored in our muscles—as if they’re remembering how to perform an action without our really being aware of it. But the reality is that the activity is happening in our brains.Sunday, May 12, 2019
SWAT LC Open Invite
To enter the SWAT meet, first go to the ShAC Events page here
Once you find the meet (June 8/9), click on Attend/Decline.
You can then click on "View All Meet Events" to see order of events for each session.
Entry times will be "NT".
I'd like our swimmers to compete in three events each day as follows:
Saturday
200 I.M. + Parent Choice + Swimmer Choice
Sunday
200 Free + Parent Choice + Swimmer Choice
Quote of the Week
It is amazing what you can accomplish
if you do not care who gets the credit.
